The Murder of Nefertiti Harris

This part 2 episode examines the early crimes of Arthur Shawcross in the 1970s, while also exploring the troubled childhood and upbringing that some believe foreshadowed his later violence. We will also reflect on how he was released after serving a reduced sentence, raising questions about missed warning signs and systemic failures.

On August 23rd, 1985, a 911 call was made with a tip in the Kristin O’Connell case. Was this a true attempt to help identify Kristin’s killer, or a ruse to mis-lead and mis-direct police?

The first video clip on the right is the 911 call from August 23rd, 1985.

The second clip is news coverage and an interview by CNY Central News with Doug Zammett and Mike Swank from 2014. Zammett’s stepsister claimed to have seen the two along with a third man, Rodney Smith covered in blood on the night of Kristin’s murder.
